Trinity has joint adult groups as well as designated Men’s, Women’s, Young Adult, and College Student groups designed to provide an opportunity for adults of the parish to come together for fellowship and spiritual growth.

Sunday Formation

Sundays in Satterlee, 10:15-10:50 a.m. in Satterlee Hall

February 11-March 17 (with no classes on January 28) and April 14-28
Our spring 2024 series will expand upon the lessons in Christian witness that we will discuss at the parish retreat weekend at Kanuga.

I Love to Sing the Story, 10:15-10:50 a.m. in the Stirling Room

January 14-March 17 (with no classes on January 28 or February 4) and April 14-28
The hymns we sing at almost every liturgy at Trinity are statements of faith, praise, and lament. Have you ever wondered who wrote the text and the music, the theology behind the hymn, the tunes, and the stories of the hymn writers themselves? This class, led by lay members and clergy, explores these questions and more.

Episcopal 101, 10:15-10:50 a.m. in the Hospitality Room (near the welcome desk)

January 14-March 17 (with no classes on January 28 or February 4) and April 14-28
A great starting point if you’re new to Trinity, or new to the Episcopal tradition. Led by clergy and lay facilitators.

First Sunday Fellowship

The first Sunday of each month is designated as Fellowship Sunday and no formation or children’s Sunday School classes are held. Check the current edition of the Tidings email newsletter for special events or exhibits on Fellowship Sunday.

Weekday Formation

Mondays

“Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi" by Dr. Amy-Jill Levine – January 22-May 20, 5:30 p.m. in the Stirling Room
This book study serves as an introduction to the work of Dr. Amy-Jill Levine in advance of her February visit to Columbia as part of the Solomon-Tenenbaum Lecture hosted by the University of South Carolina, and a planned workshop at Trinity. Facilitated by Gail Anastation and Debbie Yoho.

Tuesdays

Men’s + Women’s Bible Study + lunch – Resumes January 9 - Men meet in the Stirling Room, women meet in Classroom 114. Bible study begins at noon, and lunch follows in Satterlee Hall.

Pub Theology at Trinity –  Resumes January 9 - 2nd & 4th Tuesdays, 6:00-7:45 p.m. Classroom 114.
This is a casual gathering to discuss questions of faith over a pint of your favorite beverage. All are welcome at this table. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month. Feel free to bring your favorite beverage. We will also have tea and/or lemonade available.

YAMS (Young Adults Married + Single) Ladies Bible Study - January 30-March 26, 6:30-8:00 p.m. Offsite location.
The YAMS Ladies Bible study will continue studying Genesis this winter using Jack Kuhatscheck’s book "Abraham, Hearing God’s Call." This nine-week study of Genesis 12-21 will look at Abraham’s obedience and faith in God, and God’s promise to Abraham that seems impossible. A light dinner will be served. Please contact Elizabeth Beal or Nancy Holt for location information and to sign up.

Wednesdays

The Ark Women’s Study Group – January 17-March 20, 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the Edward Room of the Trinity Center.
Women of Trinity (as well as women from other churches) are cordially invited to join The Ark to share our responses to readings, to evolving ideas on spirituality and, often, its relationship and challenge with current events.  We gather in our Ark as sisters, together traversing an ever-changing sea.  This winter, we will study Richard Rohr’s "What Do We Do With Evil? The World, the Flesh, and the Devil." The book is available at All Good Books in Five Points for $10 plus tax.

The Book of Revelation – 9:30-11:00 a.m. Classroom 114.
You and I are inundated daily with bold images that threaten to define reality for us, but they are not the full picture. Blessed by Nancy Guthrie tells us the Book of Revelation looks beyond the space and time we know and allows us to see directly into heaven. The beings and events recorded there are startling because they are intended to jolt us out of the complacency we have toward the powerful evils of this age. But, Revelation also reminds us about God’s plan from eternity past for the full restoration of His kingdom and strengthens our hearts with the knowledge that He is in full control of all things.
