New Clergy Announcement
Dear Trinity parishioners:
I’m excited to announce that a new clergy person will join our staff in May. I’ve called the Rev’d Dorian Del Priore to be our new Canon for Parish Life. Dorian has a vibrant presence, a strong faith, and is warmly engaging. In his brief years as an ordained priest, he has managed to gain impressive experience in many areas of church life. Most recently, as associate priest for children, youth, and family at St. Peter’s, Greenville, he has created a warm parish atmosphere, and he cites “developing community” as a key passion. That’s exactly the kind of vital work I see our new position of Canon for Parish Life catalyzing.
Dorian’s impressive experience predates his call to ordained ministry; he coordinated youth ministry at St. Michael and All Angels for three years, then was the beloved youth minister at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Columbia from 2007 to 2011, where he discerned a call to ordained ministry. At Virginia Seminary, his leadership gifts flourished, and he was elected Student Body President in 2013. Further, Dorian has done great work on the diocesan level, including joining the Gravatt Camp & Conference Center Board of Trustees and serving on the Diocesan Executive Council.
Dorian’s Columbia connections are strong, with his having grown up here, and his uncle is the eminent South Carolina portrait painter Michael Del Priore. Dorian himself has strong interest in art (photography and painting) and sports, a dual interest shared by his family--wife Lauren, and his children, sixth grader Brynn and high school junior Jordan.
I have been most impressed by Dorian’s dynamism, his love of communicating his faith in creative ways, and his deep love for Christ’s people.
He will be introduced to the parish Sunday, May 14 at the 9 am service, and begins work Monday, May 15. Trinity is making plans for a parish-wide reception to welcome him and his family.
Warmly in Christ,
The Very Rev’d Timothy Jones
